I've moved the PC I inherited from my dad into my home office earlier this week (it's a few years newer than my 11 year old desktop PC and the only one I can run current versions of most of the software I use for both work and my hobbies). The big advantages of doing this, aside from the aforementioned climate control in this room, is that my desk, despite being very old and on its last legs, is a bit more ergonomic (it has a keyboard tray). I'm also able to use larger monitors (the now vertical panel to the right was my dad's primary monitor, whereas the larger Sony HDTV was my PC's main screen). Since my PCs second screen was a CRT and this one is flat and vertical, I reclaimed quite a bit of usable desktop area while also increasing screen real estate and pixel resolution.
These changes have made my workspace significantly more livable. I've even been able to place items on my desk that had been collecting dust in various corners of my home office, some recent acquisitions joining ones that are a throwback to my childhood... some of which have never been on my desk at home or work before.
