Six days ago, I ran under this bridge during the 25th Long Beach Marathon, my second 26.2 mile race
Today, however, I am walking here with Valerie...our first visit to the Aquarium of the Pacific. I received a coupon for one free admission because I participated in last Sunday's race
Kids seem to really like petting the rays
I reach down and touch one...but cannot get Valerie to do so
Dory? Actually, Valerie and I are laughing because we hear "Nemo?" many times from parents and their kids...even when the fish in the tank are obviously not clownfish
I did not take time to match fish with their identifying placards
Due to crowds, I decide to move on. It is hard to get decent photos when people want their turn at the glass
A blue whale model hangs over the main hall
"I speak whale"
Big fish
Jellies
A pair of amourous sea lions gave the family audience a mature show
This sea lion is just chillin'...
...and posing
More jellies
Tough to photograph these
Otherworldly
Last tank of jellyfish
Spider crab
Shiny
When Valerie and I find the tank containing clownfish, we are amused that an adjacent placard mentions how this species became popular after being featured in a movie, but fails to mention the title
I am sure it is no coincidence that they put blue tangs in here as well. "Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming"
