DAY 12 (continued) - Somewhere over the border between Cambodia and Vietnam
Vàm Cỏ Đông River, roughly 7 miles east of the Cambodia / Vietnam border (http://maps.google.com/?ll=11.349619,105.952835)
Vàm Cỏ Đông River flows by Châu Thành in Tây Ninh Province
Thunderheads...hopefully we have seen the last of the crazy weather
Starting our approach
Descending over Thủ Dầu Một in Bình Dương Province (Go Dau Stadium is near the upper right of the shot)
Continuing east over Quoc Lo 13
We first see the Saigon River (Sông Sài Gòn) as it snakes its way by a really large pit...a rock quarry perhaps? At the moment, my window faces due north. Our destination lies southwest of our present location, so we will probably turn soon.
During our last visit we drove by Suoi Tien Amusement Park, this time we fly by it. We have turned around so now my window faces south.
Saigon Port
How many times do with cross the Saigon River?
If Sông Sài Gòn is a tributary of the Đồng Nai, what is this tributary of the Saigon River called?
Almost there...stay on target
We taxi to our gate at Tan Son Nhat International Airport (Sân bay Quốc tế Tân Sơn Nhất)
Valerie and I do not recognize this terminal...and a new control tower appears to be going up nearby
De-plane...so much for the weather being nicer
I am certain we did not arrive at this terminal or grab our bags from this claim during our last visit...looks brand new!
Valerie, Maman, Michel at curbside
Papa picks us up in the van
First dinner with the in-laws
