DAY 07 (continued) - After snorkeling with the Ambassador of the Environment program, I am qutie hungry. That said, having had leftover pancakes from Gazebo for breakfast, I opt for a relatively light Hobo Lunch from the Honolua Store (one entree...in this case, curry beef).
Amanda at the Ambassadors Hale encourages me to attend Executive Sous Chef Marc McDowell's tour of the hotel's herb garden, but I sleep through it while lying out by the jacuzzi...an unexpected side-effect of this morning's activities.
I return to the Ambassadors Hale to pick up a CD-ROM containing the photos I took during this morning's class, but Valerie grabbed it when she attended the herb garden tour. While I am here, I decide to take photos of the map of Hawaii
Supposedly, this is the largest map of the Hawaiian Islands, visible from planes flying over Maui
DAY 08 - For lunch, I head to Maui Tacos...forgetting that I first tried food from one of their locations during my marathon trip
On that visit, I had a mango BBQ pork chimichanga. This time, I'm having a Napili Buritto...with mango BBQ pork. It sounded good before...and it is not only good, but also reasonably priced ($5)
I return to the Ambassadors Hale to take detail shots of the map
From the Big Island to the smaller ones
The island I am standing upon
Only visited O'ahu once
Same goes for Kaua'i
For dinner, Valerie craves something quick...like take out from, yes, Maui Tacos
She has a taco salad with chicken (apparently something she has ordered before)
I figure it is finally time to try their fish tacos. I order combo #1, which comes with two tacos (in this case, fish), rice, beans, and chips. Not nearly as good as Wahoos, but still tasty.
DAY 09 - After running 11.5 miles, I decide to reward myself with one last trip to Gazebo
I have a table next to a window today with a clear view of Molokai (no more vog)
Did I mention how good Gazebo's pineapple-mac nut-banana pancakes are? They even taste good cold the next day, so, even if you don't think you can finish it, order the full stack!
A little birdie lands on my table...
...and reads the newspaper while I finish my pancakes
These birds seem far more aggressive than on previous trips...one actually landed on my plate!
In the afternoon, I head down to the Ambassadors Hale to find the herb garden
I bump in to Executive Sous Chef Marc McDowell who is in the process of beautifying his garden for an upcoming site inspection...he recommends I come back tomorrow
