Last season, I had a ton of issues with equipment failures...likely due to the age of my gear

The most immediate need was to replace my Mission GT bindings, which repeatedly started falling apart while I was on the slopes during our last trip. The final straw was having both straps break just before I strapped in at the top of a chairlift. I hope I never have to ride down on the back of a snowmobile again!

I will learn if I like my new bindings when I finally hit the slopes. Unlike my previous bindings, these have a padded base that covers the mounting disc, so they could be more comfortable...hopefully wtihout sacrificing control. This is also the first set I've owned that does not have locking highbacks.

Even though my new bindings are made by Burton and are packaged with mounting discs to adapt the Cartel to a wide range of snowboards, my particular Burton board must be old enough that its compatibility is no longer a priority

Fortunately, ET Surfboards in Hermosa Beach not only had the Burton 3D Re:Flex Discs, but also did not charge me for a pair. Even though we have not yet scheduled any trips for this season, there's a significant storm moving through the Sierra...big enough that I decide to mount my bindings just in case!
