DAY 1 - Pete is acting loopy because he finally bought a board...a Burton Custom 162. Same make, model, and size as my stick, but this year's version!
Pete's coworker Jan, a first time snowboarder, joins us on this trip
Valerie is ready to hit the slopes
Valerie snaps this shot a bit too close for comfort
Pete satisfies his voracious need for feed while sitting in the schoolyard
Jan rehydrates after we fail to teach her how to snowboard. She has wisely enrolled in ski school...Pete, Valerie, and I are happy to leave her in the hands of the professionals. We hit the slopes as soon as we finish our picnic
In the afternoon, Pete takes a break on the mountain and Valerie and I don't complain. As of now, we've been awake for more than 12 hours!
Valerie is not wearing her shell...it MUST be hot today!
I've also wisely ditched my shell
Pete snaps pictures
I pose for Pete
I believe we've stopped on Gold Hill, a run off of Chair 9
Pete and Jan look forward to $12.95 prime rib at The Stove
For two trips in-a-row, Pete, Val, and I have taken advantage of their early bird special...while successfully beating the Saturday night dinner rush
DAY 2 - As we wait in line at Stump Alley Express, we spot our favorite alpine mascot. Normally I am excited to see Wooly...
...but he just cut to the front of the line!
I head to the top and take a run off the Cornice, but morning conditions on the bowl are a tad icy. I hope Pete doesn't have photos of me wiping out on the way down.
We traverse the mountain from Face Lift (Chair 3), across St Anton, and towards Chair 12
Pete chases his shadow down the mountain
DAY 3 - We arrive at Canyon Lodge shortly after the lifts open, eager to get an early start
Valerie does not seem as thrilled to be up this early
Have I mentioned that Pete has joined us as a Mammoth Value Pass holder?
