DAY 1 - Since we stayed overnight in Bishop, we wake up extra early hoping to hit the slopes as lifts open
With clear skies and no traffic, we figure we'll get there quickly...
...but snow and ice cover highway 359
...forcing us to use chains (if only we had snow tires)
The old village is blanketed with new snow (52 inches over three days)
Robertos, a popular Mexican restaurant we frequent, appears to be expanding
10 inches fell yesterday...we're glad we stayed in Bishop last night
We turn on Meridian and head up to Little Eagle
We have to park a few blocks from Little Eagle...and the walk nearly wears us out
We head up Chairs 15 and 25 and then traverse the mountain to the Mill Cafe
Stump Alley Express is crowded this New Year's weekend
Wooly tries to cut in line
The sign atop Face Lift warned that Saddle Bowl is ungroomed...now I understand what it meant
Looking back at the top of Face Lift
A closer look
Valerie takes a break before continuing across St Anton
St Anton panorama
After I make my way across, I stop to wait for Valerie
She meets up with me and we continue towards Chair 12
As we near 12, we get stuck in waist-deep powder
There's a lot of fluffy stuff above Chair 12
Valerie wishes I'd stop taking pictures and start riding
We cut under Chair 13 before heading back to 12
