Mid-way through Thursday morning's 6 mile run, I felt/heard something pop in my left calf. I immediately knew it was bad...could not continue running and needed mom to give me a lift home.
At home, I self-diagnosed that I had a calf strain. I headed directly to Village Runner to pick up a compression sleeve (glad I went since they measured my calf and picked an appropriate size). When I reached work, I set something under my desk so I could keep my left leg elevated and I setting my injured calf on ice packs I brought from home. I kept my leg on ice through the weekend and stayed off my leg as much as I could.
Everything I have read said I should not resume running until the pain goes away...but, as soon as I started being able to walk somewhat normally again, I decided to see if I could ride my bike.
