Before Peter leaves his job at Disney, he meets us between Disney's California Adventure and Disneyland to use his employee perk get us into the parks one last time. We first head into California Adventure to get a FastPass for the new-to-us Cars-themed Radiator Springs Racers

With FastPass in hand, but a couple of hours to kill before our scheduled time, Valerie and I head over to Disneyland

We realize it has been several years since our last visit...lines for taking photos in front of attractions is a new phenomenon. Selfies weren't really a thing during our last visit either...a reminder that EVERYONE has a camera because EVERYONE now carries a smartphone.

MINE! The Submarine ride is now Finding Nemo themed. Through its windows, we now see CG animated characters from the films

Valerie and I cross back into California Adventure to use our FastPass

This whole section of the park has been themed as Radiator Springs from Pixar's Cars

And Radiator Springs Racers is the latest addition. Pixar is taking over...this park's roller coaster will soon be themed as the Incredibles' "Incredicoaster" and the boardwalk will be rebranded "Pixar Pier" over the coming months. Additionally, our visit coincides with "Pixar Fest". A number of special food offerings at both parks have been inspired by the Pixar films.

It's hard to sightsee as this ride has high speed sections

They did a great job incorporating the Cars characters and film locations

They are not quite as animated as their CG counterparts, but they can do a lot with their eyes

And yes, there IS a race
