I do not usually leave work during a Friday afternoon for good reason. My Tesla's HOV lane access isn't helping much and its nav system is telling me to get off the southbound 405 at every exit!
Nearly two hours later, I am finally parked! I definitely won't do this again...
There is a first time for everything
Well, technically, I have been to this stadium twice before. I came here once with my dad to see the L.A. Rams play. And I ran through this stadium's parking lot during the Disneyland Half Marathon (I'm still pissed the course did not go on the ball field)!
Either way, this will be the first time I have ever seen the Angels play...and, no, I will NOT call them the Los Angeles Angels. They are from Anaheim! Why they couldn't just stay the California Angels is beyond me...
I like the view of Chavez Ravine better...seriously who wants a view of freeway traffic?
The Angels take the field. I seriously know nothing about the Angels other than that they are most definitely NOT in "Los Angeles" and that their manager was a catcher during the Dodgers' glory years
Here's the first pitch from Ricky Nolasco (#47) to the Red Sox' Mookie Betts (50). I may not follow Anaheim, but I definitely want to see them beat Boston.
I'm attending this game thanks to fellow NSXer, Bob Ondrovic, who is visiting the LA area for his annual Dead Stadium Tour (http://deadstadiumtour.com/2015.html). I am leaving the photography to my fellow Canon shooter since he brought superior gear...including a decent length lens that still falls within the stadium's 6" limit (before being extended).
I haven't seen fellow NSXer Gil much since NSXPO 2010!
6-0? The Angels have looked like a Little League team tonight...ironic since I was on the Angles during one of my Little League years
I decide to stretch my legs well ahead of the 7th inning stretch. I pause when I hear Mike Trout is stepping up to the plate.
Looks like he's going to walk
Ball 4
Shouldn't this team be pitching an EV built in California?
On the bright side, the Red Sox have only scored a single run in the second half of the game
View from left center field, overlooking a portion of the "California Spectacular"
Smartphone panorama from left field
Angels have two men on. Would be nice to catch a home run back here. Unfortunately, Kole Calhoun (56) goes down swinging to end the inning
I return to my seat with snack in hand (I ate a bit before coming to the game so I'm not really craving a full meal right now...but that was hours ago)
The Boston fans cheer as Bob's name appears on the scoreboard during the 7th inning stretch
Martin Maldonado (12) hits a solo home run. Finally the Angels have something to cheer about and my phone refuses to focus on the one who gave it to them
What's up with my phone's lack of focus? This shot is the sharper of two I took of the home run fireworks
