Today I come out to Auto Club Speedway to cheer on high school friend Jon French
Jon's Spec Racer Ford (SRF), an enclosed wheel, open cockpit, purpose built race car powered by a 105 hp 1.9L 4 cylinder engine (basically the powerplant from a Ford Escort shoved into a package under 1,700 lbs)
This is the first time I have seen Jon since my junior year. We reconnected last year via Facebook
This past week of storms dumped a ton of snow on the local mountains...a rare chance to catch a photo of my car with a snowcapped backdrop
The car next to Jon's has its engine exposed
Behind the wheel

Jon's father is also his crew chief
#51 is ready to roll
Cucamonga Peak
The bridge crosses the straight between Turns 11 and 12
Inspecting the track between sessions
A wider shot of Cucamonga Peak
Looking from the bridge towads the main grandstands and the scoring tower
