I waited to get fully vaxxed before bringing my NSX for its first oil and filter change since the pandemic began...and I'm rewarded by getting a chance to pose my car with a pair of genuine JDM NSX-Rs!
The last time my NSX visited Niguel Motors was in 2019...when she spent most of the summer here due to the stripped head bolt
Was it coincidence or fate that I saw my first JDM NSX-R in person during that last visit. A few people even sent me pictures of my NSX on the lift behind it, but I didn't get any of my own pics of my NSX with the R...so I WILL make up for that today.
The first NSX-R I saw had the Enkei 5 spoke rims I have always associated with the R. I wasn't aware the genuine Rs were ever offered with the 7 spoke rims until I first saw Justin's posts with his.
Yes, these NSX-Rs both belong to Justin (JChoice)...an NSX owner I met not long after I bought mine in 2000 (first on NSX Prime, then at meets in Orange County). I even remember when he sold his NSX in 2005. Took him long enough to get another!
So just a few years ago I figured I would never see a genuine NSX-R in person unless I attended a NSX Fiesta in Japan. Now I'm standing behind two of them...and I even know the owner!
I'm guessing some of Ramon's customers must think I'm nuts
My Acura emblem with a pair of legit red backed Honda badges...no posers here
The Enkei NSX-R wheel doesn't have the NSX-R logo painted on it
NSX logo on my door

I take photos of the interior through the windshield (to keep reflections at a minimum, I have to put my phone's camera practically against the windshield)
105,302km is still fewer miles than I have on my NSX
The red Recaro seats look really good inside a Championship White NSX-R
I catch a shot of the Amtrak Metrolink passing behind the NSX-Rs
This is the longest I've gone between oil changes, but also likely the fewest miles. I barely drove my NSX during the pandemic...just enough to keep the engine lubed and battery charged (I only once had to jump start her)
Even though my NSX is still half full, I decide to top up at the Costco on Newhope. The OC is often quite a bit cheaper than the South Bay and today is no exception ($3.639 per gallan for Premium here vs $3.999 in Torrance).
This is only the fifth time I've visited ANY gas station since the beginning of 2020! It's been a long time since I've stopped at this particular Costco for gas...heck, my last visit may have been to fill one of our Teslas with electrons at the nearby Supercharger.
Another chapter in driving where NSXs fear to tread, but at least I have been able to find an ideal parking spot. Valerie and I drove down to Little Saigon twice during the pandemic, but this is my first time making the rounds solo and first visit to Top Baguette in ages.
Of course Valerie wants me to pick up Bun Bo Hue, so I risk a trip to Ngu Binh. The last time I drove here with the NSX, Valerie shielded me with her MINI...but, as with Top Baguette, I was able to find an ideal-ish spot (the car parked to my right backed in)
I'm parked in front of a Tesla Model S and...is that a...
