Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy - Jak and Daxter in Maya
I earned the opportunity to work on both title characters for Naughty Dog's PS2 franchise. With Bob's original illustrations as my reference, I brought these heroes to life in 3D...modeling, rigging, texturing (Jak), vertex shading, lighting, and, in a few instances, animating them.
When this capture was made, Maya viewports were not capable of displaying vertex colors beyond 1.0, 1.0, 1.0 (PS2 could modulate texture colors by twice that amount). Jak's hair looks dull compared to its in-game appearance.
Note the size of this capture...even in 2001 I was working with a 21" widescreen CRT capable of resolutions beyond Full HD!
