DAY 3 (continued) - I am relieved to see my Model X this morning. One of the things I love about this car is that I can monitor its location and charging status from the phone app...but I lost connection with it overnight! Had to reboot the center console to get the car communicating again.
Today's destination is in the Napa Valley. Valerie and my last visit to the region was with my car club in 2003. I don't think we went further north than Yountville, but some of the drive up Highway 29 looked familiar.
Our brunch stop is Market in Saint Helena
Today's brunch group: Eric, Valerie, Christy, Peggy, and Tom
Chef's Daily Soup Sandwich and Treat: potato leak soup, pastrami on sourdough, homemade chocolate cookie
I really enjoy the soup, the pastrami is quite tasty (would have liked a little more meat), and the cookie provides a nice finish
Crossing Main Street in Saint Helena
After lunch, we continue north on Saint Helena Highway. Since Tom is driving, I look for photo-worthy vistas, but harsh shadows have already consumed the valley floor
Tom, Peggy, Valerie, and I pose by the Welcome to Napa Valley sign near Calistoga
Valerie and I don't drink wine, but we are in wine country...so we must stop at a winery.
Harvest happened months ago...December is far from the ideal time for photopraphing a vineyard
We have stopped at Dutch Henry Winery. All of the visitors appear to be having a really good time.
I'd rather pet and photograph the cat walking around
Fat cat...I wonder if it is preggers
Black cat and pumpkins...and it is not even Halloween!

Just as we prepare to leave, Will shows up to give us a tour of their wine cave..and he educates us in the art and science of winemaking
The winter air is very dry, so winemakers must hose down their oak barrels to prevent evaporation through the wood
Too dark for steady shots as the cave turns
Tom and the others have stepped into the dining room...a private area located deep inside the cave
