DAY 0 - Valerie and I head to The Los Angeles Convention Center The NutriBullet Health & Fitness Expo. We arrive at 9am as the doors open, but we have to wait in line to enter
Fortunately, the lines to pick up the bib and race packet are not long
No gridlock...except for when you are driving to and from the marathon course
ASICS has replaced Honda as this year's title sponsor...and you cannot attend the Expo without walking through their well-stocked store
Even though I have my DSLR hanging around my neck, I decide to stick with my smartphone while we are at the Convention Center...it does a pretty good job
We spent roughly an hour at the Expo, but could have left 20 minutes earlier if I didn't pay to have my bib number printed on a shirt
For my optional 1-2 mile workout, I decide to take Valerie hiking in Griffith Park
Crossing fingers this is the trailhead for Observatory Trail
The marine layer is starting to burn off...hopefully it does not get too warm while we are here
We must be on the right trail...we now see our destination
I have not visited the Griffith Observatory since I ran cross country meets on trails near here in high school. This is Valerie's first time in Griffith Park.
You can barely see Downtown through the marine layer
So we CAN see the Hollywood Sign from up here
I use my Galaxy S3 to upload a photo of the trails leading to Griffith Observatory
Valerie snaps a very similar photo using her iPhone 5...and quickly gets more "likes" on Facebook than the shot I just posted from my Galaxy S3 (not that this is a competition)
Everyone seems to be going up the wider trail to our right...where does the narrow one in the middle go?
Valerie is about the same height as the sundial in front of Griffith Observatory
Griffith Observatory Sundial and Obelisk with the Hollywood Sign
Cellphones have made this form of timekeeping obsolete
(Galileo.) Galileo. (Galileo.) Galileo, Galileo figaro...
We pose in front of the Hollywood Sign from near the Griffith Observatory
