JANUARY - First noodles of the New Year...Santouka shio ramen with extra char-siu. The old standby always delivers. And driving all the way to Mitsuwa gives us the excuse of extending our drive into Carson for poke.
Can't believe I've never been to the food truck lot hosted at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center...not far from the office, plenty of parking spaces, and they are here with different trucks for lunch every Thursday (and they have dinners here on Tuesday nights)
These Empenadas are just okay. I would have tried Poke 2 Go if I did just have poke for a couple of meals.
In and Out always delivers. Double-double medium rare with grilled onions, fries well done animal-style...and a chocolate shake.
$9 Banh Mi? Who would pay $9 for a banh mi?
Crowds aren't too bad and there are actually places to sit.
Ok...this food truck lot is now officially a weekly stop. I have to keep coming here to make sure the trucks keep coming to the South Bay (yeah, it's all on me). http://www.enrichedfarms.com/#!lunch-at-the-arts-/cz50
Apparently I would pay $9 for a banh mi...out of desperation. It's actually not bad. In fact, the caramel pork belly is quite good. But it is definitely not worth $9! What's worse is that the Vietnamese iced coffee is disappointingly weak...and cost $4! That's not a venti sized cup!
Santouka spicy miso ramen with extra char-siu is another bowl that never disappoints
DAY 0 - Valerie and I stop at Ngu Binh in Little Saigon so I can get some fuel for my half marathon. Yes, Asian noodle soups, even spicy ones, have replaced traditional pastas when I carboload.
Valerie treats me to lunch at Gen Korean BBQ in Torrance...my first time here
I would have posted more pics, but I was too busy eating
FEBRUARY - On my way home from work, I pick up a free Cinnabon courtesy of Better Call Saul...and will get to enjoy it while watching the next episode!
Rare business dinner in Santa Monica...at Mercado
VALENTINES DAY - We decide to try a local restaurant...Black Bamboo Sushi is actually located ON the hill near Lunada Bay.
8 Piece Sushi Combo (Chef's Choice) with Spicy Tuna Roll
Their potato balls aren't as good as Portos
The side of Crispy Cuban's truck claims "Best Cuban Sandwich Ever!", but I can't agree. Strangely cut and not bad, but not the best I have had.
Hope this place is good... because it is not far from home
